우즈베키스탄 첫 원전 착공… 러시아와 대형·소형 원전 병행

2026년 6월 4일 샤브카트 미르지요예프(Shavkat Mirziyoyev) 우즈베키스탄 대통령과 블라디미르 푸틴(Vladimir Putin) 러시아 대통령은 화상 연결 방식으로 우즈베키스탄 지자흐주 파리시 구역의 통합 원자력발전소 1호기 건설 착수를 알렸다. 우즈베키스탄 대통령실은 두 정상이 우즈베키스탄 첫 원전 1호기 건설을 시작했다고 발표했다.

 

카자인폼과 카바르는 이 행사에 라파엘 그로시(Rafael Grossi) 국제원자력기구(International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA) 사무총장이 참석했다고 전했다. 카자인폼은 이 프로젝트가 우즈베키스탄의 첫 원자력발전소라는 점을 강조했다.

 

우즈벡 매체들도 이 소식을 전했다. 쿤.우즈와 가제타.uz는 아짐 아흐메드하자예프(Azim Akhmedkhadjaev) 우즈베키스탄 원자력청(Uzatom) 청장의 발언을 인용해 통합 원전 기본 사업비가 최대 95억 달러(한화 약 14.49조 원)라고 보도했다. 두 매체는 이 금액이 2026년 3월 24일 체결된 계약 기준의 기본 비용이며, 현지 조달 비용은 별도라고 전했다.

 

외교 전문지 더 디플로마트(The Diplomat)의 캐서린 퍼츠(Catherine Putz) 편집장은 2026년 6월 보도에서 우즈베키스탄 원전 프로젝트가 2017년부터 논의돼 왔고, 2024년 소형 원전 합의 이후 2025년 대형 원전 구상이 다시 결합된 사례라고 설명했다.
